What a wonderful day in the Lord!! We worshiped at Mbale Presbyterian Church and was it a service. Since our vans were late (as usual) we arrived at church after Sunday School had already begun. J.W., Marc and Leon spoke to the men while Pat and Pat spoke to the women. The rest of the team took over the children. I estimate about 200 children! We split them up into 3 groups and taught them a Bible story and craft. Overall it went very well. At dinner the team was sharing their experiences of church. I cannot begin to tell you all the stories. From responses to their teaching time, handing out ties to the men, dancing and singing in the service, those who walked 5 miles to come to church, the list goes on. It was a meaningful day for all. They look forward to sharing them with you. I'm not sure, but I think Josh has picked up some new customs to bring back.
Haha Nathan, told you the dresses were awesome!! =] Thanks for all the comments, I love reading stuff from home!
Hello everyone! We had a wonderful day worshiping at Grace Presbyterian Church in Mbale. Leon, J.W. and I each spoke to the men during the S.S. time. I shared the plan of salvation and then we passed out Roman Road cards to all of the men at the end of S.S. After S.S. a young man came up to me and said he wanted to speak with me after the service. He accepted Christ as his Savior. Praise the Lord! We also passed out the neckties that many of you sent. It was like kids in a candy store! They were so excited and appreciative. Several of us showed them how to tie them. Our intent was to distribute them to the men but women were picking out one to wear as a sash or belt. We were able to get some good pictures to show later. Thank you all for blogging. We read your comments each evening after supper during our share time.

Greetings from Uganda. What a special day worshipping with these people. There also was a team which arrived this morning with a global mission organization. How exciting as we began to make connections with mutual acquaintances. Then how special to hear the people sing and dance as they worship God. Our worship services will seem a little “dull” after today with these people. They have so little and express much joy. We have so much and express little joy. God forgive us. We prayed for Josh tonight as he teaches tomorrow and Tuesday at the Covenant Bible Institute. Many pastors will be coming. We feel your prayers because so many “God moments” have happened. Keep praying.

Hey from Houston...Joined my pastor, Laurey Murphy, today for home communion. One of the first things the lady commented on was how neat it is to hear about y'alls' mission and sevice in Uganda (via our prayer chain and yur blog). You are touching lives across the world through your responses to God's call. Kathie - Bob Murphy said "hi." Peace of Christ continue to be with each one of you. Can't wait to hear your stories. Peace - Denise

I continue to lift you all up in prayers and thoughts of love that you may all realize the mission of your calling during this Uganda trip. What a blessing your mission has been to us as we read each day how God is working with the people you are ministering to and with each other every day. Pat Sligh commented on how little those people have and how grateful they are, and we have so much and show little gratitude. She is a woman who lives what she believes in. She is my younger sister. Love and Blessings to you. Phyllis Jackson
ReplyDeleteI am having trouble accessing this part of the site at times so when I do not respond do not think that it is becasue I have not been on checking up on you all. I check about 10 times a day! Two important items--1. It rained. Praise the Lord and 2. I found what Marc was looking so diligently for before he left. Mayb he can remember what that was.
ReplyDeleteWe had a great service today. Low crowd but David did a great job and spoke on our Freedom in Christ. He used Romans 1 for the text. God is always praised when his people come together in praise, prayer and thanksgiving. Have a great day tomorrow. Love to all and kisses to Marc.

YES Audrey! I admit, you were right!
ReplyDeleteI am SO glad that you all had a great church service!
Here in Monahans we also had a wonderful service! and Marc! I was up in the sound booth and had to run EVERYTHING by myself! ha (well George came up and tried helping me half way through, but we got it done!) and JOSH, our service ended EXACTLY at 12 ;) David is good! haha! But all-in-all it was a great service.
This blog always puts a smile on my face and I know that it also puts a smile on Gods face! You all are doing wonderful things, keep up the great work! Y'all are in my prayers! Good luck teaching Josh! I know you will do a wonderful job! (as always!)
Love,
Nathan M. Fulfer
Thank you for being the hands, feet and heart of Jesus Christ. I continue to lift you all up in prayer.

I can't wait to see the tape of the service!! I know it must have been incredible!! I can only imagine how awesome it must have been to be a part of that kind of no holding back worship! Pat, I think you said it perfectly - we have so much and express such little joy (unfortunately I am often included in that statement). Why? Maybe I'm just too content. The gift I have been given by God through Jesus is unbelievable!! Why don't I shout it everywhere I go? Sorry for the soapbox moment, but God has been doing some big work on my heart too while you have been gone. Acts 1:8 keeps coming to my mind (you preached on this recently Josh) "you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem". That's home - right where I am. It's got to begin here with me living out the joy. It's infectious and it spreads! I can't wait to hear more about your experiences of how God has touched your hearts! I also have to say, way to go Josh on preaching what sounds like an awesome sermon! I'm not surprised - you're a pretty sharp guy but more than that, you have a heart that fully belongs to God and you listen. I'm so proud of you!! Marc, your news is awesome as well! Sooo exciting! God is using you all in such mighty ways!
ReplyDeleteChurch went well for us this morning as well. David did a great job! I did get a text from my brother just before the service began about his wife going into labor at 34 weeks. If you haven't already heard from the text I will be sending Josh (as soon as I think he will be awake), she delivered a health baby girl - Lexi Kaitlyn at 6:10 Sunday pm! Thank you for your prayers! Keep up the incredible job you are doing!
Love to you all! Hugs and kisses to Josh.
Love,
Jill Stowe
P.S. Audrey - how did that devotion go on the plane? : )
Greetings to All,
ReplyDeleteSorry you haven't heard from me lately, but Charlie and I are on vacation and have not been able to have internet access all of the time. I have been sooooo anxious to get on and hear what has been going on. It is inspirational to hear how God has been working, yet as I write this I wonder why we are surprised...that's what we've been praying for -DUH!!
Josh, you are definitely in our prayers and we know that God will produce marvelous outcomes through your teaching. I must say though, I am a little leary of the new customs you may bring home!! (I hope it's not the 2 hour service--Marc may never get to Spotlight in time to eat fried chicken again.)
I am proud of you all for your hard work and commitment. I know that without a doubt that God has worked through each of you and I just feel that it will continue upon you return home.
Marc, I am a little anxious to hear (or see??) how you celebrated the 4th of July African style. I must tell you...my imagination has gone into overdrive!
Not only was I glad to read about the great things going on in Africa, but I was also glad to hear the service went well in Monahans. When Charlie got the call from the radio station at 10:45 this morning that we were not on the air, he immediately called the church, but no one answered the first time he called so he was scrolling through all the numbers on his phone and I was just saying, "Well, normally the people you would call are all in Africa" when he said, "I'll just call Josh." I very calmly yelled, "NO, DON'T CALL JOSH." By the time I finished that friendly reminder, he realized his mistake and quickly ended the call. He then called the church again and Nathan answered the phone. Afer he walked Nathan through everything and Nathan never called him back, he began to relax and vaction resumed.
Once again I will close this chapter of my "book" and hopefully, I will get to check on you all daily from now on, but if I can't, just know that you will always be in our thoughts and prayers.
Continued Blessings,
Vicki
It sounds like the perfect worship experience for the group. What a blessing. Praise the Lord for his use of Josh's gift of teaching to speak to Morris!! I pray that he is refreshed through the teaching at the Bible College as well. I continue to pray for your energy, flexibility, joy and patience, things that I constantly needed during some of my mission trips in the past. Keep up the great work. You are such wonderful servants of our Lord!!

Dear Uganda team,
ReplyDeleteHow exciting it must be, to be in Africa and sharing the word of the Lord. I know the seeds you are planting are going to grow hearts for the Lord. Yes Pat we take way too much for granted and never seem to rejoice in what we have, yet we do have so much. I have prayed for you each day, but have not had access to a computer for a week, so had only 144 e-mails to get thru before I could talk to you. I'm glad everything has gone so well, but I do worry about Joshua and Marc, I believe this attraction began during our pastor search teams initial meetings, so because we love their wives we will keep them separated when they get home!!! Just kidding, love you both!! My prayers are with you and will pray for continued success and mutual love and respect with the people you are meeting and sharing with. God Bless you all. We love you and will be lifting you up.
